UAL Level 4

Diploma in Performance for Screen

At ESA: ScreenCraft, we have developed our Acting and Performance course to specifically train students in applied practice to work in film and TV.

The course is delivered in partnership with professional drama practitioners and includes practice based performance work on productions. Students will also develop a portfolio and show reel and be prepared for castings and auditions.

The Diploma covers the following units of study:

Applied Professional Practice

This unit will equip students with the necessary rehearsal etiquette and professional practice standards required within the screen industry. Students will gain an understanding and appreciation of the demands placed upon the performer in (and outside) of the rehearsal room and they will develop responsibility for their own professional development

Specialist Performance Practice

Students take part in a range of performance practicals in order to develop their performance technique. They will consider the different ways in which significant practitioners have imagined, theorised and produced performances, enabling them to advance their technical competency skill levels across a range of performance styles and develop their analytical skills through the exploration of their own practice.

Screen Performance Project

Students will realise their professional performance ambitions by instigating, rehearsing and performing in a specialist screen performance project. Students will take control of their own professional development and explore a self‑defined area of practice that will bring together their applied professional practice and specialist performance techniques.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants will need to have a level 5 or above in English GCSE and at least 1 Level 3 qualification at grade C or above (equivalent to Merit award) in a relevant creative subject.
